Activity

Students conduct a laboratory exercise using supplied materials, as appropriate. The procedure and product are written down and reported on. Virtual laboratory simulators can be used. Otherwise, scheduling time on campus, or a local lab in partnership with the institution.

Goals & Objectives

Identify how the activity aligns with student learning objectives (SLOs).

The goal is to learn a specific principle by testing it in the real world. Simulations can sometimes suffice, see PheT as an example. The ability for the student to carefully track data, apply their knowledge, interpret results, and report on their conclusions is also an important outcome.
