Teams User Guide

Teams is the video conferencing tool used to attend class sessions and office hours. The tutorials below will list steps to successfully:

What You Need To Get Started

  • An Internet connected computer, laptop, or device
  • An invitation to your recurring microsoft team meeting
  • A headset or ear buds (Recommended) 

Download the Teams App

Download the app from the O365 Website, Apple app store, or Android app store.

Virtual Background

The Virtual Background feature allows you to display an image or video as your background during a Team Meeting. This feature works best with a physical green screen and uniform lighting to allow Team to detect the difference between you and your background. You can upload your own images or videos as a virtual background. You can also use UST Virtual Backgrounds. Using the Teams Menu

The Team menu bar appears at the top of the Teams window once the meeting begins. If you don’t see the menu bar, move your mouse slightly and the bar will appear. (The bar disappears after a few seconds when in full-screen mode.)

With the Team Menu you will be able to do the following:

  1. Chat with classmates and your instructor.
  2. See other participants.
  3. Raise your hand.
  4. React to the conversation.
  5. View the meeting in other formats.
  6. Join or view breakout rooms.
  7. Add additional apps (requires additional licensing).
  8. More options.
  9. Turn on/off your camera.
  10. Turn on/off your microphone.
  11. Share your screen.

Share Screen and Video

As a participant you might be asked to share your desktop or an application. During a meeting you can switch back and forth between sharing your screen and sharing your video as often as needed.

Click on share and select your screen, or a software window.

When you are done sharing, you can click on "Stop Sharing".
